Our I-600 is on it's way to the U.S. Embassy in Saigon!! Let the Countdown begin! I put up a new ticker to count down the days! We're praying this part goes fast :) We know the wait can be up to 90 days..or longer :( but we have faith Hannah will be home SOON!

  1. Your daughter is beautiful. I couldn't help but notice that she has he same kind of white spots on her face as my older daughter. My daughter has pityriasis alba and I suspect Hannah does to. It isn't really a problem, is not contagious and most kids outgrow it, but I wanted to mention it to you so you will not worry when you get her. Best of luck on your adoption.

  2. Thank you, We think she's beautiful too.
Amy has the same spots on her face too. She's 3 from Guatemala and the darker she gets in the sun, the more noticeable they are. Anyone have a remedy for them?

  3. A common trademark of pityriasis alba is that you only know it when you get a tan. Children with p. alba usually have very dry skin. My 12 year old has recently started using a soapless cleanser and moisturizing twice daily with eucerin face lotion with a SPF30. The skin has spots that flake off and then do not tan while the skin around it does, thus causing the hypopigmentation. It is mainly a cosmetic problem and most young children don't mind. However, my 12 year old is becoming more self-conscious about it and we are having to consider foundations to help her camouflage it. Hope this helps.

  4. Yipeee..Hannah is coming home soon. Kate has the same lighter colored spots. Dr. said it was because she spends a lot of time in the pool. We just keep her lotioned and try to remember sunscreen.

I want to meet all of you one of these days.
