Mike took the kids to the park to fly kites on Sunday
The little ones had more fun playing
than flying...

Have Gummies, Will Travel

We were off to pick up her birthday cake and presents.

Paisley got her first Birthday Present before breakfast. I couldn't see making her wait ALL DAY to play with her baby. She played with it for about 15 minutes........Oh well , I'm sure she'll remember about her sometime tomorrow. Probably when Amy decides to play with it.

Candy asked why Amy is just starting school. It's because Amy has speech class 2 mornings a week at our neighborhood school but they don't offer VPK. So, I would need to send her to the afternoon session at a different school. I couldn't be at 2 schools at the same time at pick up in the afternoon (Ryan is in 1st grade at our neighborhood school) so Amy was going to stay home. 2 weeks ago, as I was picking up Amy I met another adoptive mom in the school parking lot. Her daughter is in Ryan's 1st grade class and she had just returned home from Ethiopia with the most beautiful 9 yr old little girl. She told me about a private daycare her son was going to for VPK and they had openings. And it's close to our home. Mike went there, signed her up, and she started Friday. And, She's in the same class as my friend's son. Funny thing, they were BOTH adopted from Guatemala! So, that's why she just started. Today was her second day, she had a field trip to the library, tomorrow she has swimming lessons, and she LOVES it. The time is perfect, 9-12. She gets her speech from 8-8:30 and I zip her down the street to school. The bad part is this...Since Paisley and I are all dressed and out the door already, we have been going shopping after we drop off Amy. THIS HAS TO STOP! We are having too much fun and spending TOO MUCH $$$$.

CHICKEN SOUP

Here are my little "Sickies" last week-end devouring homemade Chicken Soup.
THANK-YOU NANCY!
Meg's best friend's parents are both MDs. The dad is Austin's ped. GI doc. They are the nicest family you would ever want to meet. N was supposed to come over for a play date with Meg last Sat. but everyone had the Flu, Temps 104. When N's mom heard that she immediately started making her homemade chicken soup and later in the afternoon N's dad delivered it. You would have thought this group had never seen food in weeks. They dragged themselves off the couches and beds and as you can see, the soup did the trick! They ate it ALL. And look at the smiles. Austin, who wasn't sick YET, couldn't get enough.

AMY'S 1st Day of School

Don't miss GLENN BECK tonight.

Thursday, September 10, 2009

Everyone is back in school. We have a few lingering coughs, nothing too bad, and no temps so everyone went to school today.
Amy starts her VPK tomorrow morning. I found a private daycare that had an opening and it's less than a half mile from home, right across from TARGET... now isn't that fascinating? How CONVENIENT. Like I need more excuses to run to TARGET. 9am-12 noon. Perfect! Paisley and I will drop her off at school and do our shopping, pick her up at noon and hopefully they will have lunch and take a nap before we pick up Ryan from school. Ya, in my dreams! No one naps anymore.
I took Amy in to her new school to look around today. She wasn't impressed. She hid behind me the entire time we were there. Paisley on the other hand went straight for the computer, then the doll, kitchen, and My Little Ponies. Then she picked herself out a chair at the little table with the other kids and had a cookie and juice. No wallflower this one, she just walks in like she owns the place!
I don't know what's going to happen when I leave Amy tomorrow. She LOVED her school last year, and she went on the bus. Never any tears, she was always smiling because she loved school so much.
Oh, The girls got the CUTEST shoes, leather KEDS that look like Saddle Shoes! Anyone remember Saddle Shoes? I loved them, our older girls always wore them to school. I bought them at Stride Rite. I remember when Tracy was 5, I couldn't find her new shoes for a LONG LONG time... ( she didn't like them) I finally found them.... at the bottom of the DIAPER PAIL.. Anyone remember Diaper Pails. EEWW, thank goodness they invented PAMPERS!

Want to know how much RED INK a Bic pen holds?

Enough to RUIN a quilt and lime green bedroom carpet!
Tomorrow...EVERYBODY GOES TO SCHOOL!
I can't afford to keep them home any longer.

Monday, September 7, 2009

Well, #7 just woke up from his nap with a temp of 102.7, and I thought for sure Austin and I would cheat this old flu. What are the odds I escape this thing?
My little girls have had a relapse this afternoon and are both in my bed watching sponge bob ( because it's an old TV with no hookups for a DVD player so no Princess Movie for them) with little fevers, runny noses, and coughing. They look so cute, it's a 4 foot tall king size blue 4 poster bed, and these 2 little bodies propped up on pillows with a box of tissues and a shoe box holding their sippy cups of Gatorade between them. And they had such a fun day playing outside today, darn it! now we start all over I guess. Ryan had no fever all day...until now. Molly's voice sounds like a truck drivers' and she is still hacking away!
Meg is fine and wants to get out of the house and go to school! And since she is well, and Obama changed his speech, I'll let her go. I was debating whether to send her tomorrow or not because of all I heard about " THE SPEECH" but I read it a little while ago and it was pretty darn good. No political stuff in there, just the normal "work hard" type of stuff. I guess with all the uproar he changed it. Works for me!
Now....where am I going to sleep tonight?

THIS is why we ADOPT

After raising 5 daughters
in 2004 GOD called us to adopt
I actually felt his presence
and heard his voice
6 children later
we wait for HIM to tell us
HIS plans for our family
are complete.
What can YOU do to help?
Not everyone is called to adopt
but surely you can find some way to help.

ONE MORE THING.................

IT'S NOT SO MAGICAL AROUND HERE RIGHT NOW

DING! DING! DING! DING!

A light just went off in my head....We have the H1N1... AKA... SWINE FLU here in our house! Well, at least that's what I think it is.

It's the ONLY flu going around right now, so that's what I think we have. And no MD in the office today, but I've handled it this far, what's another 3 days? RIGHT? By Obama Tuesday, everyone will be happy and healthy again, except me I'm sure. Of course who was the FIRST to get sick as soon as school started? Yep, Meg, as usual. But that was last Friday, fever, sore throat, cough, She missed her play dates with her girlfriends but went to school Monday. Nurse mommy took good care of her. Monday afternoon who comes dragging home but Molly. The 2nd middle schooler. Now SHE looks like death warmed over. fever 104, aches, coughing, I put her to bed. Thursday she goes back to school . Thursday morning Paisley has 103 temp and starts with a little cough and runny nose. now I KNOW it's coming. Everyone will get it now! Friday, Paisley still has her fever when the Advil/tylenol wears off and who comes home from school looking REALLY BAD? Molly again! She looks worse than the first time. 104 temp. Off to bed she goes. Now Amy decides to sit beside me on the couch and burns my arm she's so HOT. UGH! Another one! Good thing I found children's Advil on clearance at TARGET this summer and bought it all! OK, what's the count now? Meg, slight cough but OK, Molly, miserable, Paisley, fever, Amy Hot Hot Hot. OK, I can manage this. I'm not a nurse for nothing! Meg is now my little helper and we get everyone sort of in bed/couch. What's the point of separating them now, right? Alrighty, we're all calm, things are going smooth

.....ringgggggggggggg. " I'm coming home" "Why" I ask? " It's only 4:30" "I'm sick" I think I'm going to PUKE and it won't go away".

So, Daddy is on his way home from work. This is new, no one has been puking, EEEWWWW I don't like PUKIES.

It's FRIDAY night and now I finally realize ..THIS IS SWINE FLU. According to "DR. SANDY"

Everyone was resting comfortably watching TV so Meg and I went to TARGET to re-enforce my supply of bleach, lysol, tylenol, juice, you get the picture.

I get home and here comes Ryan out of bed crying. Yep, you guessed it. 102.

Who's left? Me and Austin. Oh please don't let me get this too!

Well, it's Saturday morning. Daddy went to work, have no idea how he feels since he left before we woke up, but he is working alone so he won't infect anyone else. Molly is still miserable but her temp is down to 100. Paisley has no fever!!!! Amy is over 102 and so is Ryan. They both get their dose of children's advil and then Ryan turns around and PUKES ALL OVER THE KITCHEN. I didn't know a little body could hold so much liquid. Thank goodness he had been drinking apple juice. I don't think I could have handled chunks this early in the morning. So, I scoop him up and run him to the bathroom, get him cleaned up and comfy and back to the kitchen to clean up the mess...and what do I find? My 2 yr old Paisley, cleaning the puke. DOUBLE EWWWW. Into the tub she goes, and lots and lots of soap and water and a " THANK YOU SO MUCH BUT NEVER HELP MOMMY CLEAN UP PUKE AGAIN".

Thank goodness I have the old standby, baby tylenol suppositories. Ryan was NOT amused!

OK, I have 1 healthy child right now and am off to scrub this house with lysol and bleach. Too bad it's a thousand degrees outside or I could open the windows and get these germs outta here!

PRAY FOR ME, I'm going into the germ infested area now......
